Thibault Delphis voiced his disappointment after FC Annecy's 2-1 defeat away to Guingamp on Saturday. The player felt his side, fourth in Ligue 2 with ten points, let a valuable opportunity slip through their fingers.

"Yes, frankly, there's a big disappointment. We could have taken a point, maybe even three," said Thibault Delphis. The midfielder stressed his team felt in control of the match after Thibault Rambaud's opening goal in the 13th minute, assisted by Paul Venot.

The turning point

The game turned on a Guingamp corner in the 62nd minute. Tanguy Ahile equalised from a Donacien Gomis delivery. "It's frustrating because we felt we were controlling the match." added Delphis. Guingamp increased the pressure and Brandon Bokangu put the hosts ahead just four minutes later, in the 66th.

Annecy created further chances but could not find an equaliser. The defeat halts a positive run that included a win at Grenoble (2-1) the previous week. Their form over the last five games reads two wins, one draw and two losses.

FC Annecy must now regroup for the home fixture against Dijon on September 18th. The visitors currently sit 13th in the table. The squad will need to quickly move on from this setback to confirm their strong start to the campaign.
