FC Annecy signs Jonathan Do Marcolino for central defence to cover the long-term absence of François Lajugie. The player, developed at Laval and former captain of Rennes' reserve team, is in the process of being released by the Breton club and is expected to complete his transfer on Tuesday, 1st September at 8:00 PM.
Jonathan Do Marcolino is a versatile defender capable of playing in all defensive positions, including as left or right full-back. During his loan spell at Bourg-en-Bresse Péronnas in Ligue 3 last season, he made 11 starting appearances and scored one goal. He was also named best hope of the training centres tournament in 2024.
With Jonathan Do Marcolino, FC Annecy strengthens a defence that has conceded four goals in four Ligue 2 matches this season. The club currently sits 6th in the table with 7 points (2 wins, 1 draw, 1 loss), two points behind leaders Saint-Étienne. His ability to operate on the flanks provides tactical flexibility valued by the coaching staff.
The transfer is expected to be official by Tuesday evening, which would allow him to be eligible for the away fixture against Grenoble on 4th September. Grenoble, currently 13th in the league, will be an early test to assess his quick integration into the Annecy squad.
