Annecy have completed the loan signing of Zepiqueno Redmond from Aston Villa. The 20-year-old Dutch forward, who struggled for minutes in England, joins the Ligue 2 side on a one-year deal.
Who is Zepiqueno Redmond?
Hailing from Rotterdam, Redmond left Feyenoord last summer to try his luck in the Premier League with Aston Villa. The Dutch youngster, a youth international, signed a multi-year deal with Villa but was immediately loaned to Huddersfield Town. After just three appearances, a serious knee injury derailed his progress.
Why the loan to Annecy?
Annecy are linked to Aston Villa through V Sports, the French club’s minority co-owner. The one-year loan gives Redmond game time to rebuild his career ahead of a possible return to England. The Haute-Savoie side sit seventh in Ligue 2 with 52 points from 34 games, having scored 49 goals so far this season.
A prospect to watch in Ligue 2?
Redmond already shone in Feyenoord colours during the 2024/25 season. In cup action he scored twice against MVV Maastricht (2-1 win), proving his killer instinct. His arrival at Annecy comes at the right time: the club face Nancy away on 28 July 2026, a match where he could make his debut.
Annecy, 15 points behind Troyes at the summit, are banking on players like Redmond to close the gap. With a sturdy defence (39 goals conceded), the club now eyes a direct return to Ligue 1.
